..I feel the itch to paint although I said last week I will not paint anymore

but I felt moody as if something was missing and yesterday could not help myself from sketching with oil pastel this view of Newburyport on a 30x40 canvas.

We will see what I come up with..softer colors maybe...

Here is a painting titled"Six women, girl and cat " in memory of my cat Simba who died last year. I won the Ezechiel Straw Award for this painting at the Currier museum of Art in 2006.

A painting repainted

I did work again on Liz's portrait and now I am satisfied. After erasing that face 50 times and painting it all over again, it looks like Elizabeth ...this is how I learn, by redoing the same thing over and over till I like it.

It was Maddy's birthday in August so when I came back from the Middle East I organized a birthday party at my house. Here is a painting of Madeline, my grandaughter who is 2 years old now.

Award at the Manchester Institute for the ARTS

The Currier Museum Exhibit in conjunction with the NH Art Association was held this year at the Manchester Institute (while waiting for the Currier Museum reopening) and I got the Georgeopoulos  Award for Drawing. Here I am with some of the winners...

Hanging an art show at Gallery One

Today I am hanging the show "Green with Envy "with Monique at Gallery One in Nashua.
What a nice day to be hanging paintings on the walls!
I also started a new store on Ebay to sell jewelry and paintings...that will be a new experience in the life of an artist!

Paintings of women

I choose these 3 paintings today because they hold some particular significance:

1-The first on was sold and is now in Lebanon. It was a commission from the Tabet family. A lot of fun to paint since I could use all my bright colors and I know that in the land of the sun, colors are always welcome.

2-The painting titled "Remembering the Flower Door" was chosen this year to represent "Bridges" in their efforts to protect women from violence and abuse..They will sell cards with my painting's image for Mother's day!

3- The third painting titled "The Dream" was one of my first paintings in that genre, painted in the 90's. It is in my book, a collector's item since my style has evolved since !

Going to the Sharon Art Gallery in Peterborough

March24. I am going back to painting with oils today after visiting the Sharon art gallery in Peterborough (My paintings are displayed there)..Marketing has taken too much of my time lately!

Five women and the Iris

Today, March 21th, first day of Spring, is the first day I am posting one of my figure paintings on this blog. I have been doing a lot of marketing lately trying to take photographs of all my work that has been haunting and decorating my closets for the past years.

So here I am...Here is my paintingof the day. It is titled Women and the IRIS. It was painted with oils on a 30"x40" canvas and exhibited in many places among which the Whistler House Museum of Art in the year 2000. It was an invitational exhibit organized by MaryAnn Corrivaros who worked for the Museum gallery. I remember giving a little speech about my work during the "Lunch with the Artist" hour to explain how I get my inspiration for my paintings. !

Tulips in Pennsylvania

                                              
I went to the Levy Gallery in Portsmouth to get a painting of mine. It is a painting of the tulip fields I saw last year in Pennsylvania not far from the Hershey hotel. The weather was still cold but all the tulips had bloomed and created a sea of colors.

I had a hard time choosing the colors . Red, oranges and yellows were fighting for the best spot on my canvas
