Monday nights drawing and painting models in Marilene's studio

Latest paintout in Hollis

It was sticky hot and muggy and we didn't breathe to keep the energy ..A  photographer from Canada stopped by to take pictures of our little town. Artists Phil Bean and Mary Crump were painting the Hollis church( me too). It is nice to sit together and chat while we struggle with colors.

Going to Kennebunkport to paint

I am going to Kennebunkport, Maine to paint. Of course it is raining. Last year Nita and I had the same experience and painted in the wind and rain from the back of the car with the hood open. This year Monique Sakellarios is driving and Hsiu Norcott and myself are following our eyes still closed. We had to get up at 5am to get there in time. It is a 2 hours drive from Hollis and Nashua. The things us artists do to make or not make a living. They will have a live auction of our still sticky artwork at the Monentum hotel in Kennebunkport. All our welcome and don't forget your wallet.

PAINT OUT IN HOLLIS

I went painting again in Hollis with the Breakfast club artists yesterday. I painted the same house 3 weeks in a row. The first week I used gouache and didn't like the results too much. With Gouache you cannot overpaint forever, it is best to use it the way you use watercolor by using the white of the paper. The second week I used Oils and canvas paper. The third week, yesterday I used acrylics with a lot of medium. I ended painting three paintings which I will post when I am completely done with them.
Many artists come to paint every week. It is such a lovely spot in the historic district of Hollis!

The pony tail session

This is a painting of Elizabeth combing Madeline's hair. The painting was started last year and I almost destroyed it, it was driving me insane. The problem was that I didn't know how to interpret the whole scene and Madeline's figure was too big, I mean the canvas chosen was too big and Madeline initial photo was taken when she was two years old. I redid Madeline's face maybe 20 times at least, made her look older, and changed the colors of the dresses too, with flowers, no flowers, flowers again..and they say I know what I want!
