1-FIGURATIVE paintings

Music and the woman Harlequin, acrylic gouache on paper

The song of Maine was painted on claybord panel with acrylic gouache. the size is 16"x20" and sells for $1200.The background was inspired by a photograph my friend Nita Casey brought to the Breakfast club meeting( a group that meets every wednesday to discuss Art). The photograph was taken in Maine and we were supposed to incorporate it in a painting. So I did in the back of the ladies playing music but also had to add a white horse that seems to bring an element of mystery and fresh air.
Women and birds in red living room
In this painting that won the Georgepoulos award for drawing  at the Currier museum of Art in 2008, I incorporated all the elements dear to my heart: birds, cats( I do have a white cat who sleeps on my head every night), a romantic Newburyport garden in the back, flowers on the women dresses and those hats that make them look from another time. The ladies look like stain glass to remind me of the year spent in Egypt in my grandmother 's house where a huge stain glass would greet visitors in the main entrance.Let's not forget the tiles that remind me of my years in college in Lebanon where I was studying interior architecture. The size is with the frame and painted matboard 24"x30"
The women with rose hats

In this painting I wanted the central woman to have one of those huge hats full of flowers. I changed the background colors a few times but settled on a vivid red with yellow gold flowers. The Arlequin in the back seems to be pretty happy and dancing. It is inspired from the Italian Commedia. Did I mention I spent 8 years in Italy when I was young and completed my studies in an Italian school in Beirut? and that in my first year in college my art teachers were all Italians?  The size of the painting with the frame is 24"x30"

The same theme of the horseman, cat, birds  and music seem to recurr all the time with some lovely ladies and flowery dresses. I will call this painting Flower dresses with horseman. It is for sale and the size without the frame is 16x20
In a gold room of the Renaissance what else is  to do than talk with a red and blue bird who seems to linger a little bit longer on a lovely tree branch? Maybe the bird is  telling about the arrival of Spring and the promise of Summer. There are some medieval design elements on the lady's dress.  Size18"x24" . For sale$700. The title is Conversation with the BIRD

I changed the perspective in this painting titled "Music in the Blue room" painted on claybord with acrylic goauche. The room has blue wallpaper  and we can see the ceiling. I tried to give it the stain glass look that I like  and there are two openings to the outside world. It is  14"x18" and for sale
